Cuero

November 6-18, 2010

Our first full day in Cuero was Sunday which means church and country club. The boys' first time in the church nursery and they fell fast asleep! After church it was time for some mouth-watering fried chicken. God bless country club fried chicken.
Merry Early Christmas from Gram and Pops. The snail and musical ball were early presents for Porter and Eli. They enjoyed the lights and sounds. The lizard found his way into the sunroom where we had the blanket spread out. We saw him at various times throughout our stay.
We went on a lot of walks and made our way to my friend Annemarie's house. I had never met her little girl Lauren. She liked playing with the boys in their stroller.
With Jake coming early, my parent's plans changed. My dad left the day after he was born to get to Greensboro to help with Olivia and Nicholas. My mom stayed in Cuero to greet me and left on Tuesday. When Dad got back Wednesday, he didn't skip a beat to hang out with the boys.
Mom and Dad have no shortage of meetings and volunteer activities throughout the week. Because of Mom being gone and Dad having prior commitments, Stephanie arranged to take off school and come play/HELP with me and the boys. We made a trip to Target--quality time--especially when the boys took a nap so we could shop!
Eli's favorite toy: the frog. He is starting to grab the puller by himself. He can't quite pull it down to make the frog wiggle, but he's close.
Porter, wide-eyed on his side.
We tried rice cereal at the beginning of the week. Steph helped me when she got there.
Friday means football day. Porter and Eli wore their Gobbler outfits.
Dad was a huge help with Porter and Eli, especially in the morning. I had some rough nights with the boys waking up at different times sometimes two times each. If it wasn't 6 a.m./7 a.m. =time to eat and they were awake. I would just take the awake child to my Dad in his bed while I went back to my bed.

Sometimes those early morning wake-ups just needed Pops' help to go back to sleep.
Sportscenter with Pops.
Making Ruth pay attention to the boys. She cowered when we got close to her. She just wasn't sure of them yet.
We live near the train tracks. Some of my first home memories are sitting on the sunroom porch watching the trains go by. We also used to run to this part of the driveway, where the trees from my aunt's house (next door) and from the fenced area parted and we could see the conductor. We would wave and if we could make it in time we would run through the pasture to get a closer look.
Another Sunday of church and country club. Eli lost his clothes, wardrobe malfunction, and I didn't have any others with me. Rookie mistake!
When Steph was home, she also helped me fill in the early morning take-a-baby-routine. Here she is multi-tasking with Porter. A true Suzie Homemaker.

Eli is standing a lot these days, obviously with help. If you put his little feet on the ground while he's in your lap, he will push up to stand. Porter has just started to use those same muscles to stand up!They look so angry! I think they are squishing each other.

Mom was anticipating being gone during the week of Thanksgiving, when she usually prepares for Christmas. So she decorated early! Steph helps again with another early-waker-baby and grades her papers before heading back to Katy.
