And we are back together again.

Friday, May 21, 2010

Three years ago when the Air Force moved us to Little Rock, AR, we were excited, nervous, not ready...an entire host of emotions. We found our way around, got settled in our very first home, bought our Casherboy and made some really good memories with family, old friends, and new friends. Chris and Abby Daniels were our closest friends while there and we continue to stay in touch with them in their new station in Tucson, AZ. They came for a little visit in May. Abby is an attorney with Evan and Chris is finishing up his Bachelor's on his way to vet school--we prefer A&M Vet school and it is in the running :)

Evan met the Daniels' in Villach after they spent a few days in Germany/Austria. Friday night we enjoyed catching up like it was just yesterday we were all together and enjoying the sunset on our roof with some wine and cheese. We finished the night, where else, but our favorite little eatery in Sacile, Cellini's.

Saturday morning we enjoyed coffee at our little spot down the street and then walked around to show them a little bit more of Sacile. Then onto Prosecco Road. The Mowry's introduced us to this little agriturismo a while back and we wanted Chris and Abby to enjoy it as well. We were able to sit outside this time and take in the scenery and clear, blue sky. This is our spread: bread, various cured meats, vegetables, beans, and cheeses (not pictured). Prosecco count: 2 bottles.
The mountains are a lot greener this time around.
Look at all those vines!

The helicopter. We are still not sure the true purpose: spraying crops, transporting the winery owners to and from their villas, taking the scenic route.
And after our long and relaxing lunch, onto Ca' Salina. We may or may not have been there over three hours, and we may or may not have consumed four bottles of prosecco. The gazebo on top of the hill was open and is almost fully covered overtop with vines. It was the perfect shaded spot to chat, laugh, relax, and just enjoy being all together again.Evan uncorking the first bottle.
My beverage of choice: Aqua Naturale.

Preparation.
Execution. Please notice Abby's mad skills of keeping her prosecco glass in her hand.
One more time just for fun.

The cork went sky high!

And there goes the cork!
The corks.
Me and my love.
If you've ever met Chris, he's a really funny guy. Abby thinks so too.
Gotcha!
My turn to uncork a bottle.
Abby was laughing so hard she had to take a break on the bench. We had such a great afternoon.
The roses this time of year are in full bloom and so is my belly!
Prosecco Country.
Sunday morning we took Chris and Abby to Gorgazzo, which has a spring and a nice walking area.
Then we went and watched the paragliders jump off the mountain.
Monday we made a trip to Maniago to visit their market and see where a lot of knives are made. Here we are at the knife museum. Evan has his hands in gloves and is chopping and slicing with the various tools in the box.
Abby was leaving a day before her birthday so we celebrated early with some pound cake and gelato.
Me and the friend I miss so much!

Until next time Chris and Abby--we have more wine waiting to drink together on the roof.

Put me in Coach, I'm ready to Play!

The legal office is part of the Wing Staff on base and they form one of the many softball teams for the spring/summer league. They didn't get started until mid-May because of 3 weeks of rain delays. But we've had a game/s for the past few weeks and it's been fun to cheer on the WS--win or lose.
