Cheesy title? Don't care. Evan and I were able to go home for a week and a half (Evan) and 2.5 weeks (me).
First stop was Houston to Grandpa and Grandma's. We visited Grandma and then hit up Bayou City Seafood. Oh man, spicy food and seafood and crawfish and water on the table with ice and ice tea...we were in heaven! Thursday was a haircut for me and yummo Mexican food with Grandpa--guacamole, tortillas, margaritas!!! I did not partake but the smell was enough for me to enjoy. We got in a another quick visit with Grandma before hitting the road to Austin.
We spent a few days in Austin with Ross and Janet. We arrived just in time for a home-cooked dinner of roast and visited with Momo and Marshall and caught up with Ross and Janet. We had a full Thursday. Now I'll deal in the highlights of the trip:
- Maternity clothes shopping with Janet and Momo and found some supercute tops!
- Hung out with Jillian, Isaac, and Josie on Friday afternoon.
- Enjoyed DElicious BBQ Saturday at the Salt Lick. My first time and I will surely return.
- Ross and Janet took us all over Austin for our twin stroller education and successfully found one :)
- Visited with Rusty, Paige, Luke and met Brady for the first time.
- Visited with Lonnie and Stewart over the Superbowl game.
- Ross bought Evan apparently the best racquetball racquet ever. Ever. And Monday we purchased some great goggles that should also improve his game. Mind you, when the ball hits the glasses he will still have a cut on his nose, near or above his eyes, wherever. Every other week or so Evan looks as though he was in a fight at school.
On to Cuero Monday afternoon:
- Reunited with Cash for the first time since September for me and first time since July for Evan--great fun and he totally remembered us which was nice to know.
- Playing with Olivia and Nicholas on their last night in Cuero. Hanging out with Ashley and catching up for a few hours.
- Tuesday, after we dropped the Wintons off at the airport, Mom and I hit up the Pottery Barn outlet to look at baby crib bedding. Another successful trip minus the fabulous discount :( And a Motherhood sale on maternity clothes was perfectly timed.
- Evan spent his days in the country with Cash or in the backyard with Cash.
- Visiting with Alexis and her 2 sets of twins and getting some much needed advice.
- My Cuero aunts hosted a baby shower for the kiddos and the Bryan aunts, Alice and Julie, and Ali and Jae made it to the party and the Houston cousins Anne and Lou came too. So great to see so much family!
- We have misplaced our camera from the trip so no photos as of right now.
- Pre-Valentine's Day dinner with Steph, Jeff, Mom, and Dad, and Evan. Then Evan left early the next morning to go back to Houston to meet Grandpa, Ross, and Janet to catch a ride to the airport.
Evan got home and immediately had to drive to Germany for a week of training. I stayed in Cuero and tried to get a lot of baby details taken care of.
- Visited with Chandra, Annemarie, and Kelly and met Chandra's newest addition Cannon and Annemarie's latest, Lauren.
- Ate BBQ in Luling with Ross to get in one last visit. We missed Janet :(
- Traveled to San Antonio to spend one entire day with Anne, Beth, Nancy, and Allybug. Much needed time and we toasted the babies with a yummy Italian cream cake.
- Rounded out packing and one last Barbecue Station for me (3rd time in Cuero, 5th overall--can you tell we miss it a LOT?).
- Lots of time with Cash.
Evan drove home on Saturday late, late, late, and I was able to talk to him before taking off. This was major because I had not spoken with him in 1 week which is a long time not to hear someone's voice. I finally arrived home Sunday night after my delayed Houston flight made me miss my London flight, only to be rerouted to Zurich then to Venice. Overall a great trip to Texas and it was nice to be home.
