***Disclaimer for the few who read this blog: Below are pictures from our hospital days with the boys their first week with us. I'm behind on days but it's my way of scrap-booking since I can later print this blog for keeps.***Eli on the left and Porter on the right in their Aggie caps from Simpson. The nurses insisted we keep the boys bundled and dressed because they were preemies. Under the sleeper they have on a short-sleeved onesie. The sleeper has feet but they also insisted we put socks on over the sleeper feet. Reminder: It is 90 degrees outside and we are in a room with an AC they will not let us turn on. The boys certainly kept all their heat inside!
Eli is not crying he's yawning. He has the stretchiest, longest yawns I have ever seen. Porter also likes to sleep like this today--on his side and preferably touching someone.

Sweet Dad.

Me with Eli.

My "Benjamin Button" Porter. He was so teeny. You can still see where his little head is still not fused together.

Snug as bugs in rugs.

The flash got to Eli.

Here we are getting ready to take a bath.

Porter (L) and Eli (R) posing for their photo op.

Porter. He slept most of the time in the hospital and rarely cried. When we put him in the bassinet, he would sort of roll to his side towards Eli. His cry was so quiet. Even when he would open his mouth to cry it would take a few seconds for the noise to come out he was so small.

Eli. He has his eyes open a little more than Porter. He caught on to eating right away and has not stopped since. Every now and then in a the middle of a nap--he grins.

So
this is what you look like?

Swaddled on day 5.

Day 6 pic.

Evan and Porter having some face time.

Porter was asleep almost the entire time we were in the hospital. He would fall asleep nursing and not eat enough. He was at a stable weight but not gaining so we had to make sure he was eating. We filled the syringe with milk and took turns pumping the milk into him coaxing him to gain weight.

"Good job!" We pep talked him before and after eating in the hopes he would be encouraged.

My Mom, Gram, came into town on Tuesday. She took her originally scheduled flight that was "early" for the babies--little did we know they had their own date to make 4 days before she arrived.

Me and my Eli after he ate.

Everyone took turns feeding Porter. Here he is after he finished his syringe, relaxing with Gram.

Me with Eli.

FINALLY!!! Ready to go home. Porter gained enough weight and Eli gained daily so we were discharged. I'm ready to load the boys in their carseats for the first time. Alexis, my twin Mom, sent monogrammed blankets for the boys with my mom, and the flyswatter is reminiscent of our mosquito killing we did at night. The folders were for Baby A and Baby B with all their Italian paperwork and passport information.

Evan loaded the boys in their carseats.

Ready to go home for the first time. We barely fit in the tiny elevator to go downstairs. On to our adventure home and getting Porter and Eli adjusted to the Italian life.
