Lucca

July 31, 2011

After our stop in Pisa, we drove into Lucca for some more sight-seeing. Lucca is another beautiful walled city. The Renaissance walls can toured by foot or bike. We chose bike! But before our ride, we walked around their art market and picked up some pottery along the way.

This is Lucca's main plaza is circled by tourist shops, bars, and restaurants. It is better known as the Piazza Anfiteatro because it used to be a Roman amphitheater (seating 10,000) which gradually was cannibalized for its stones. This is also the point where we realized we didn't have two hats. We were down to one.

Guinigi Tower has a garden on the top with fantastic views.
This was the best part of the day. We hooked the boys up in a trailer to the back of our rented bikes and rode the walls. They did great! Porter eventually fell asleep and Eli investigated all around his little space in the trailer.
Someday I'm going to try to remember all the historical places we have changed diapers.
This was on the way home at a gas station where we stopped to eat dinner. Our little boys were worn out from a full weekend!
