Profumi & Sapori

This weekend in Sacile was another festival. Profumi & Sapori--Fragrances and Tastes. Booth after booth after booth of food and wine and streudel and candied nuts--aye de mi!

We walked around the piazza Saturday morning. No worries, the Italians were in full force drinking prosecco and apertifs at 11 a.m. A few were on their morning bike ride (not leisurely, full Lance Armstrong gear) and just stopped by for a glass of wine. The booths were just getting set up and tables and umbrellas arranged. We returned that night and met up with Tony, Hollie, and Ceci. This is Ceci--6 months old in her Osh Kosh B'Gosh overalls.
We had salsiccia and frico with polenta. Sausage and a fried cheese/potato dish and polenta on the side. I am not a big polenta fan but Evan enjoys eating all the polenta he can. A few glasses of wine, prosecco, some beer, candied hazelnuts, more wine--you get the idea.
Then we completed the food addiction with a fritella with nutella. Fried dough with a slab of nutella inside--delish and nutrish for sure. Meets all diabetic standards.
We met up with Chad, Ally, Ally's mom, and Corinne for a few more glasses or wine. Corinne made her bedtime pallet on the edge of the piazza and this was the deciding factor for the moms, dads, and babies to head home. We wandered around and found some more friends--Kasey, Eric, & Kathy.

The band on the piazza began playing a Chuck Berry classic, "The Twist" and Kasey and Eric had to join in. The Italians loved the song and were singing along--lots of cover songs--Pink Floyd, The Eagles, with a few Italian songs strewn in the mix. The band and crowd were in full swing until about midnight. We left shortly thereafter.

Sunday we returned for some lunch and more wine. This time to purchase a bottle not just for immediate consumption. Overall, PERfect weather, great food, great wine, great company. Until next year Profumi & Sapori.
