Barcis Hike

This past Sunday we went hiking with some friends near Lake Barcis. On our way we encountered the peaceful protestors near the base gate. They apparently come every year on the anniversary of the Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings.

Now for all you avid hikers (Chris and Abby) our road was paved so not a hard hike. What you can't see in the picture are 2 teeny babies carried in the baby bjorn in front.

Here we are near our lunch spot in the mountains. Tony brought a little grill and we roasted brats, veggie burgers, and paninis. On the way down we got some pictures of a peaceful and clear waterfall. The picture makes it look like Evan is right next to it--it's actually further away and MUCH higher than it looks! Don't worry Dad, we only dangled our legs over the edge for a minute. Just kidding.

Once we got to the bottom, there was a group of kayakers headed downstream--we caught them in the transition from fast rapids to peaceful waters. The water was C-O-L-D but it felt so nice on our toes after hiking. Just our tippy toes though.

We really enjoyed the hike and time with new friends. I want to go back and take a nap by the river--people just spread blankets on the rocks. Hopefully we'll get back soon.
